The Isle of Wight has a wide range of animal attractions including the chance to see tigers, lions, monkeys, sloths, birds of prey and many others.

 

The Isle of Wight Zoo  Sandown is the place to go if you love big cats.  It specialises in the conservation of tigers, lions and Madagascan animals, especially lemurs.

Also focused on conservation, Amazon World Zoo Park has a wide range of species, mainly from South America.  Armadillos and anteaters, sloths and capybaras are some of the animals which can be seen, also a wide variety of birds, bats and reptiles.

At Seaview Wildlife Encounter, the focus is on interactive encounters with the wildlife.  There's the chance to meet meerkats and penguins as well as otters and wallabies.  There's a large variety of birdlife to see, including flamingoes and parrots, with plenty of opportunities to feed the animals.

The Owl and Monkey Haven is an award-winning sanctuary for rescued birds of prey and primates.  The focus is very much on the needs of the birds and animals who live there and the enclosures are purpose built. 

At Appledurcombe there's a falconry centre, with a large collection of eagles, hawks and falcons, and regular displays throughout the day. Falconry displays can also be seen at Robin Hill.

Nearby is the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, which since 1987 has been providing a safe home for donkeys in need of assistance.

There's also the chance to see butterflies flying free in a natural environment at Butterfly World
